Family History of the Bezdiceks from Minnesota, USA.

Our Story from my perspective (This is accurate to the best of my knowledge).

Great Great Grandma Frantiska Bezdickova was born in The East Bohemia town of Vysoke Myto in 1846. Great Great Grandpa Frank Bezdicek was born in a smaller nearby village named Sruby in 1847. Both grandparents were Bezdiceks, but were not related.

The Vysoke Myto and Nearby Village Chocen is the birthplace of the Bezdicek Name. A Clan name if you will.

These two were married in Chrudim in 1868 where they stayed and had their first child. In 1872, the family moved to Innsbruck, Austria.

One rumor for why the Bezdicek’s left Chrudim and Bohemia was that there was a war and that they did not to participate.  That would have been in 1869 (between 1869 and 1884 they lived in Innsbruck, Austria).

Now according to the information in the next section that discusses the property where we came from, it indicates that their property was sold in 1884. I know from my source, Lawerence Bezdicek, that they lived in Innsbruck for some time. My thinking is that since the Czech Republic was part of the Austrian Hungarian empire, it would have been easier to maintain the property from a distance. And it was probably maintained by family until they decided to leave to the US in 1887. I am not certain, but that is the only way I can make the facts make sense.

In 1884 Great Grandpa Fred Bezdicek was born. He was the youngest of nine children. He was born in Austria. He was 2 when the family emigrated.

I am not sure how they got to Minnesota, but I heard of a story that the family was rejected by many along the way, and in Missouri they had to pull a gun on a family just to get water. Anyways, In 1888, the family settled in the Jackson, Minnesota area.

On August 29, 1911 Grandpa Fred married Olive Betlach. They settled some land outside of Lakefield, MN.

Their eldest was Grandpa Emil Bezdicek. Also, Great Uncle Emanuel was an identical twin that was born.
