We came from the town of Sruby, CZ. Thanks to information from Lawrence Bezdicek of Jackson, MN from about 1999, and from Petr Bezdicek (I found him on the net) in 2000. Petr is a Doctor in upstate New York, but was born in Chocen, CZ a city near Sruby. Special thanks to Petr's father, also a doctor, who dug in public records to find our origins.

Here are his findings:

I saw the house I mentioned before. It is in Sruby, No. 25. According to the archives, the land was sold by Jan Pust to Vaclav Jires in 1601 (for 30 meissen groshes). Since 1625 the owner was Martin Dostal, 1632 Vaclav Celakovsky, 1636 Jan Novotny, 1654 Vaclav Novotny, 1676 Jan Dusek, 1689 Frantisek Kaisrlik, 1697 Tomas Kaisrlik, 1731 Jan Kaisrlik, 1774 Frantz Horak, 1775 Fratz Vojtisek. 1782 the land and house were sold to first Bezdicek, Vaclav. Since 1808 the owner was Josef Bezdicek, 1846 Jan Bezdicek, 1869 Frantz (in Czech Frantisek) Bezdicek.

Old archives are available in State Archives. Most of them are on the microfilms. They were mostly filled by local priests. There are books of births, deaths atc. In the books was also writtes how large was the land and how much they ower to the local noblemen. Many books from the beginning and middle of the 17th century were destroyed in the 30-year-wars.

I saw written in one book, that in 1884 Frantz Bezdicek sold the house to Josef and Anna Fuks and emigrated to the US. In 1887 lived there Jan Fuksa, who the house in 1896 to Vaclav Burianek. This family still lives there, I talked to the owner. They had built next to the house a new one before the war, and the old house is now empty. We made some pictures of it. When I get them from my father I would scan them and send to you.

Here are the photos of the house and the surrounding area.
